I am going to head up to Detroit this weekend to watch the Malibu Open. The wakeboarding is only from 5-8pm on Friday and Saturday. This is because of the powerboat racing... (lame)

Does anyone know of any cool spots or things to do in Detroit? I have never been, and it looks like I am going to have a lot of free time.

Thanks for the input.

Not gonna lie, Detroit is pretty boring. Plus the Malibu Open isnt directly in downtown Detroit. I'll be out there Friday to check it out, and ill probably ride after at like 8ish. I Live about 20mins away from the Open so you could probably come out and ride if you'd like.

Bring a mountain bike and hit the mountain bike trail at Pontiac Lake. For lunch go to down town Royal Oak. Alot of great restaurants and cafes. Go shopping and help the Michigan economy, at the Somerset Collection. Or hook up with Spencer.

Go to Greektown or across the bridge to Windsor. Greektown can be fun, just realize that it is about the only happening thing downtown. The casino is there too of course, I think I had a good time at the old shillelagh once? Had more than a few good times in Windsor, just not sure if bars are what you are looking for.

How far is the site from the airport. Distance and/or time?

Its about 45mins from the Airport. The airport is in Romulus and the event is on Ponitac Lake. Its in Waterford to be exact.

The event starts at 5pm so you'd have to get out of the airport by like 330 to make sure you got there in time because its rush hour as well.

Spencer, thanks for the offer on riding man. That is cool. Unfortunately, I just got word from my boss that we have a client coming in tomorrow, and I am not going to be able to leave Pittsburgh until later than I planned. I should be up in the Waterford area by 8pm or 9pm now.

Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like some cool ideas.

Does anyone know of anything going on Friday or Saturday night. I assume that since there is no riding on Sunday, then people might go out and party Saturday after the comp is over.
