I bought a board from someone in Orlando as my first board. I'm just getting into it and I'm light on money right now, so I went the cheap route and got one second hand. The board itself is a hyperlite board. It looks like a Van Gogh painting. If anyone has any ideas of what the name of the board is or can find an official picture of it, that would be very helpful. Thanks everyone!

No, none of those are it, but thanks for the quick help! (Wow!) Molded fins (very small) The top looks like a sunset on the beach. It's not a graphic on a colored background, its an acutal painting over the entire board. The bottom has a different painting, but its in the same style. Here are some links to some Van Gogh paintings to show you what that style of painting is: http://www.artunframed.com/images/jan/starrynight.jpg http://www.onmytoes.co.uk/images/about/Munch_scream.jpg.jpg

Well very small molded fins means it would be a 2000-2001 belmont or 2002-2006 motive. Just cant think of that graphic the only sunset one I can think of is: http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard3.asp?ProductID=1018

Ok, I took some (crappy) pics with my cell phone. Hopefully this can clear up a little better what it looks like. http://www.geocities.com/nokeyforyou/2.jpg The first pic looks has some darker spots. These were stickers that I took off. This is the case with the two women posing at the top of the board. http://www.geocities.com/nokeyforyou/3.jpg

Ok, I found it. Its a 99 Hyperlite Drifter. http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard.asp?boardid=306 I guess it helps to read the writing on the board. Wow. I am abscent minded tonight. Does anyone know about this board? Reputation, strong points, weak points?

dude, there's no molded in fins. Doesn't matter, you finally found it. Drifter: Fast, edgy, smooth pop. I'm not sure what fins you got with that, but you might want to go to some smaller ones if they came with the stock huge ones from 99.

Sorry, I thought the little molding was the molded fins. I am still new to this. But I have learned that no fins is the way that I like to ride, I feel like I have more control that way. thanks for all your help!

those boards weren't designed to be ridden finless. You will have a tuff time without some kind of a small fin.

The drifter is known to be ridden by Chad Sharpe before he started designing the TFD that eventually turned into the 3DS. However the shape is different then that board. Sharpe must have been riding a 2001'ish Drifter?!

The Drifter is a great starter board. Put some 1.5 inch fins on it and you'll have a board with good hold, relatively fast, easy to control, and mellow consistent pop. I still have one I let beginners use.

erik c, if you can, try to watch "daily dose." It's the hyperlite video from 98 and brian has a few tricks on the wakeboard.

It went Drifter, then Project, then TFD, then 3DS. Chad and Ricky were the guys on the Drifter and then the Project. I couldn't stand the things ride, the bottom is so flat with only those tunnels on the edge, all the tracking is at the tail and it just wasn't that great. Plus the fins are huge, stock they strap like a 1.8" Surf Dog fin on there.
