We have over 500 hrs on ours. No issues runs great. Our friends have the 330 hp Scorpion. Same boat and prop. Very little difference in performance.

Very little difference in performance? What would that little difference be?

Sorry phaeton are you saying the 6.2 doesn't perform significantly better than the 5.7? I thought the 6.2 was a torque monster?

If you look at the two engines, they both produce the some hp and tq. They both are bored out to 4inch . That means there is less iron inbetween the pistons on the 5.7 which means you have more of a chance of blowing a rod at high RPMS compaired to the 6.2 which has more space inbetween the pistons

I understand the concept of the "engine not having to work as hard" which you would think would be lead to less chance of malfunction...

But what about the performance aspect? Both same out of the hole? Larger engine better at altitude? Gas consumption differences?

And given the differences, is it worth getting when buying a boat?

I have the 6.2L Black Scorpion... run a 10.5 pitch prop... runs higher rpms... but pulls out of the hole with 3000lbs+ ballast and a full crew...

Wouldn't Apples to Apples be compare the 6.2 Black Scorp to the Indmar HH?

And then the 330 Scorp to the Monsoon?

I wouldn't say there is a huge performance difference between the two. The 6.2 has a little more power but is it enough to justify the price difference. I would say no.

My 6.2 is the 377 Super Scorpion with 377 ci and 377 hp and 400lbs of torque, it pushes my 2001 Sanger DXII along at 54 mph(fastest production skiboat ever made). It is balanced and blueprinted from Mercury Racing division and you can not get em anymore.
Wakeboarders can use any ol V8 since you don't go over 30mph.
Sell your boards buy some ropes and handles and start barefooting and having some real fun.

Actually John, you have it backwards. The 6.2 would have less piston wall clearance than the 5.7,...but even that's not true. The bore is the same on both engines. The extra cubic inches come from a stroked crank, not a bigger bore. And throwing rods at high rpm has nothing to do with cylinder wall thickness.
