Does anyone know the ballast configuration for the new 22 ssv? It has 1450 lbs stock. What are the sizes ( in lbs) of the rear and front bags?

just a guess but i think it is like 650 in the front and then 400 on each side of the engine compartment... these bags are very easy to upgrade.
a lot of us run the 1050 in the front and then 650 on each side in the back
not that it really needs it, but it is always fun to have more....

That is what I thought as well. The bags in the rear do not look very tall. I had 400lbs (W701) in my 2006 22 SSV and they look bigger.

Where do you find the 650's and the 1050? I looked on fatsac.com on did not see them.

You need the Center Gravity Games Sac - W842 upfront and you can either run the Pro X Series Rear Seat Sac - W705 or the Pro X Series Fat Sac™ - W707 in the rear lockers. If you want to get crazy you can run the W842 in the rear lockers, but it will fold up on its self-this is easier to do in the 24ssv. Some guys also stick this in the nose- Pro X Series Open Bow Sac - W706, but I just use the stock 400 sacs from the rear lockers in the nose to add more weight if needed.

I have one of the v-drive sacs in each rear locker., the gravity games bag in teh center locker and use one-two ( partially filled ) v-drive sacs in the boat.

Would I be able to just upgrade the rears and leave the stock bag in the front.

I have 400 lbs of POP bags that I can use as well.

I think it is more important to upgrade the front bag. The back really does not need much more weight. Nice for surfing, but you really need the weight up front.

I agree with Diggs, you will want to upgrade the center sac befor the rear sacs. The goal is to get it as close to 50/50 weight front to back ratio. Move the pop bags around to help clean it all up.

I ran 1150 front and 2x750 rear all last year on my 07. Every one loved the wake well except novice divisions but I ran 0 ballast for them.

I agree with the rest, upgrade the front first.

Can I ask what kind of speeds and line lengths you are running when you have the 1150 in the front and 600-750s in each rear?

The reason that I ask is that I currently have a 24SSV with 1150 in the front and 750s in the rear. We have to get up to 23.5 or so to get a clean wake at 75 and even then it is very sensitive to side to side weight.

My intent with a 22SSV would be to get the same size wake with hopefully a little less weight and some better fuel economy. When test driving with stock ballast, the wake seemed more forgiving at a sligtly slower speed and looked nice but it is almost impossible to get a test drive with extra weight to see how the boat performs with tons of weight.

no matter what boat you are in the more weight you add the more finicky the wake becomes and 23.5 at 75' sounds pretty much right on to me. the whole smaller boat + same amount of ballast = bigger wake theory is pretty controversial.

We're at around 24 in mine.

I was out testing my wake over the weekend and I was running about 1300 lbs up front and 1300-1400 lbs in the rear. I had the plate at 50-60 % 24-24.5 MPH at 75-80 ft. The water conditions were very blown out, so it was hard to get a good feel for everything, but the wake was huge. I will need to keep playing with it until I get it right.
