The Pete Rose is a trick that I have struggled with for years, but only recently have started to get consistent. I had the same problem as you. All would start well, but the last bit of rotation just wasn't there. Make sure you keep the handle close to your mid-section through the entire trick. When I do my roll to revert I tend to concentrate on the grab and not mind the hand on the handle. I could get away with flapping that arm on the roll to revert, but for the Pete it is key to keep it close. Start with the handle close and finish with it close. Once it gets away I always get stuck. Tip: consider shortening the rope and slowing down the boat. The shorter line will decrease your required crossing speed (less line tension) and the slower speed will help you commit to the blind landing. Good Luck.
