power loss

We have a new 05 Ski Supreme with a Mercruiser 350 ski mag. We have been careful through the break-in, and are up to 18 hours. On our last two outings we have experienced power loss in the engine. It runs fine under 3000 rpm. After a couple of minutes of running over 3000, the rpm's will drop off, come back up, drop off... The engine is running fine - not missing, not sputtering.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...

If the engine losses spark it would miss, so fuel is the most likely cause. Why is another question, and that is what the warranty is for.

fuel filter cloged?

Fuel filter would be my guess too. Someone suggested air filter as a possible cause as well. I am taking it in to have it looked at, but the shop is booked solid for 2 weeks. Aarrrgghh...

I recently encountered a similar problem, my engine would rev up fine in neutral but under load it would bog at 1700 rpm. It turned out to be a plugged fuel filter.
