Went to Boca Res yeterday and found the road over the dam leading to the boat ramp is closed. Anyone have any idea as to why or how long it will be closed?

I talking with a local (truckee) a few weeks ago that has a ski club on the lake and she said that all (federal , i think) res. have to close the dam because of potential terrorism threat. She said that this is some new law/ordiance passed by the govt. Currently she and her water ski club is trying to get it changed....

BTY how much snow up there right now??

I heard the reason this AM. It just seems like another random act of governmental bafoonery.

They have effectively closed Boca to any type of recreation other than fishing from the East shore. Perhaps the govt could construct a boat ramp that would allow boaters of all types to utilize the lake. Until then it looks like we are all SOL.

There is some snow in the shaded areas but clear every place else. The road to stampede above Boca is clear from snow but has some decent size rocks on the edge and in the road. At least they placed a marker against the rock to warn you of the obsticle.

I actually know the federal engineer that closed the dam. There are some structural issues that they can't attend to this year secondary to being at or near capacity. The dam access road will be closed for the season. Boats must launch off the beach to the east or travel a dirt road from Prosser res. to the west side boat ramp. The lake is open to all boat traffic and has already been used by may boarders and skier's this year.

Jason,

Thats great to hear about being able to use the boat at Boca. Is there a recommended place on the east side to launch that works out ok?
