Just got our new (used) boat. 2006 VLX. I was riding behind a Supra Launch going 23mph hour at 75ft. Anyone who rides behind a VLX have any suggestions for speed and length? We are going to Powell this weekend.
Thanks

Depending on weight in the boat and power wedge position (if available), at 23mph, 75ft should be OK. I really like 23.5mph at 78.5ft.

It's all preference, I ride @ 22MPH and 75' or 80' full ballast wedge down. I have had a semipro behind my boat and he rode at 85' and 23 miles an hour. Full ballast and wedge down you can pretty much ride where ever @ or above 21 MPH.

Great boat. If you need any help getting the weight just right let me know. I have the same boat and ride at 25mph and 87.5ft. With you at 75ft it should be good at 23mph. Do you have the power wedge? The wake is going to be wider behind the VLX.

I was about to say that Tony

I ride lessons behind Sasser school's X-Star and then get behind my VLX
when I first got my boat I was kinda lost as to why hitting my toeside wake to wake was more difficult

I then learned that (at first) the driver was turning a bit to help me clear the wake

and then that the VLX wake is wider

75' @ 23mph should be fine. I ride behind my VLX 82.5' @ 24.2 mph fully weighted with wedge and 1600lbs additional. Proline Faction series rope is 85' in length and has 5' and 2.5' take off sections--you might consider picking one up as the shorter sections really help to figure out what length is best for you.

Looks sick Brady. You are gonna love it. Best wake in the industry in my opinion. Depending on how many people are in the boat I'll either ride at 75 or 80. I always ride with full wedge and all 4 ballasts full. If its just a few people in the boat, I'll ride at 80' at about 21 or 22. If the boat is full with 10 people, 75 at about 23 mph. You will figure out what you like in just a few passes.

Thanks for the input. I have seen and played with the wake a little bit, but have not ridden behind it yet. The wake, with full ballast and six people looked a lot steeper than I am used to. We did not have the wedge down though. Does that affect the steepness? How about gas? Its seems having the wedge down a lot would cause the boat to eat a lot of gas.

Brady,

I have the same boat but we don't use the wedge. I run Full Ballast: 500-600 extra in sacks in each trunk and a little over 400 in lead as far into the nose as I can.

'75 at 23.4
'70 at 22.6ish is absolutely a monster wake but I don't like to go that slow.

Occasionally I'll use the wedge and then I only use about 100 extra in each trunk and all the nose lead. It gives the lake a lot more lip, like the 210 wake. (disclaimer: I'm not saying it is like the 210, just more of that trip feeling to it)
