stereo cut out

when i turn up my stereo on my lsv and hit around 20 on the volume my stereo, tower speakers and subs all shut off?????? Anybody?

i think you need an amp, or if you have an amp you need a better one.

my supra does this too... seems to only happen when it's being pushed too hard. i think around 23 on the volume. i think it's called clipping??? it's a protection thing built into the electronics to help keep it from damaging your speakers, it will cut off.

It's a kenwood thing, kenwood sucks. I've gone through it myself and will never go back to kenwood sorry guys.

Sometimes, factory wiring is too small. You might want to look at your amp size and see if you have sufficent size wiring to it.

I had the same problem with my stereo. After replacing some of the speaker wires and shooting some wires....it ended up bieng the ground to my deck. I didn't think it would be that but we R2'd the ground wire and it doesnt cut out at all. no matter how hard i push it. sounds like the same problem so i'd definately check the ground

and....it started with a kenwood...thought it was the deck and changed it...problem stayed til i changed the ground. its cheap too.

You need another amp.

power issues with your amp and HU. fully power the stuff you have before you decide if you need a bigger amp.

ok my kenwood in my truck does the same thing and it drives me nuts. the ground is fine on it so whats the solution. ive been told that a capacitor would fix it, any thoughts on this???

If it is a power delivery issue yes a cap would help. But if the amp is plain out driven beyond its limits you are SOL.

Remember that the circuit is a loop, the Ground is just as important as the power cable. Make sure you have a good solid ground on smooth metal (I always used the seatbelt bolts in cars)

Skiers choice and kenwood admit there is a problem with the amp over heating, and will replace the amp. I had the same problem until today I fixed it the ground wire was loose. I must have fooled around with the wires under the dash a hundred times. I would wiggle a couple of wires around and it would come back on. I have not had my amp replaced yet, and now I'm not sure I need to. I had the stereo up to 32 and it never shut off once I tighten up the ground wire. The ground that was loose was mounted under the dash to the left of the sub there is a metal strip with more then one ground connected to it. Check to make sure it is tight, and hopefully you will be jamming your tunes with no problem.

Mine only does it after the amps heat up. I was told by the stereo peole that its the amps over heating and I just needed to let them cool down by turning off the stereo for a bit. It works. They only shut off after being on all day when it's hot out. Am I wrong here?

Skiers Choice will replace the amp with an updated model that has a fan inside the amp. The Kenwood that comes with the boat does not have a fan inside the amp to cool it off, and the updated model does. Just contact Skiers Choice or your dealer for help should be no problem.

sean, just throw some fans on your amps. unless its a warranty issue.... BTW - i like CFC's paper...

Why are all the speakers going off if its an amp issue? something else is going on with the HU. and I don't think a cap would help. If you have a short in the circuit somewhere, having an ass load of continuous power will not help.

Check the ground like I mentioned earlier I would bet that's the problem. I went all of last summer with the same problem. I bought a new amp had my stereo rewired with no success until today. I fixed the stereo and an hour later hit a log. If it's not one thing it's another.
