I was surprised nobody caught this in the press release we put up last week. I thought cats on boats were way out in the future. Does anybody know anything about this or how effective it is at reducing emissions? Pretty cool to see a company busting this out.

I was under the impression that all inboards would have cats by 08, and some in 07. Can't remember where I read that.

Shows you what I know. How come nobody is bragging about it? Seems like a pretty big step in the progression of the boats.

David, it's simple, how could people worry about CATS while they are arguing like this:

It's only offered by Indmar as of right now.

I heard that in 09 all marine engines must have CATS and that Indmar will be phasing them into all engines by 09

The cat is on the Indmar engines only. The problem is that there is no clear way of knowing if it is working or not. PCM will have the CAT out for 2008 on California boats only. After that, nothing has to be done till 2011. PCM will have a light in the dash so you know if the CAT is working or not.

It has been said that Malibu and MasterCraft had some issues passing the Boat Tests this year but I don't have concrete evidence on it.

It is on my 07 Wakesetter. I don't if really helps emissions or not, but it is the least smelly boat engine I have ever been around. I would not buy one without cats after having one with them.
