I am trying to calculate volume in a crazy shape sub box. It has lots of angles ( I'm trying to fit it under the dash behind the kick panel) Grant or any body know the formula?? I don't know how to resize pics for this site but I can send pic or dimensions to e-mail??Thanks

Fred,
You could fax me a hand sketch of what you want and I could model it for you and give you the volume on CAD. Get a hold of me if you'd like via my profile.

If you can figure out some of the basic shapes, add up the various volumes, for the total.

... If you have a curved line, you will need to find the equation of it.

... For the curvy parts, (Integral is the area under the line)..

... Take Jim up on his offer, if you can't find a way to figure out the equation of the line.

Jim I am a terrible artist so i'll try it this way. All inside dimensions.
Bottom- 8" across back
11" left side
13" right side
11.5" front side
Left side- 11" front to back (top & botom)
10.5" high (front & back)
back side- 14.5" top side (wide)
10.5" Left edge (height)
11.5" across bottom (wide)
12.5" right edge
right side-12.5" back edge
12.5" front edge
11.5" bottom edge (front to back)
14.5" top edge (front to back)
front wall-10.5 left edge (height)
12.5" right edge
11.75" bottom edge (left to right)
18.5" top edge
All measurements are straight lines The left side is the only side with a true rectangular side. I didn't measure the lid because I think it will be a moot point. I needed a minimum .8 cuft up to a maximum of 3 cuft. My calculations came up .63 cuft I believe, for a 10.5 X 10.5 (inside dimensions) but it would not fit in the space anyway. So I built this box and have no way to calculate volume. (I think it will be big enough, just would like to know for sure. Yea they say I'm anal at times) Thanks for your help

You're gonna have to draw it Fred.

put a plastic bag in it and fill it with water. Then measure the amount of water, and convert gallons to cubic inches.
Simple....
Maybe two bags

Your measurements don't add up.

The "Bottom front side" = 11.5"
The "Front Wall bottom edge" = 11.75"
(these are the same edge)

The "right side bottom edge" = 11.5"
The "Bottom right side" = 13"
(also the same edge)

Unless I'm missing something?

Go buy a $2.00 bean bag at the local good will. Cut it open fill the enclosure with the little beads. Then pour whats in the enclosure into a square box. Measure square box, multiply, divide by 1728, done. Packing peanuts works well too.

The water and bean bag trick both sound cool. Jim got it for me with a CAD program. Cool as heck. BTW .97 cu ft. He sent me the CAD model also it looks exactly like my box. Thanks again Jim

Sounds very similar to the box I installed in my old nautique's closed bow behind the driver's feet. It had two 8s and sounded a little better than it should have. The closed bows do wonders for bass.
