I'am interested in opening up a boat dealership. Any information would be helpful.

I'd like to do the same. I'll put a twist on mine though, I'll provide customer service after the sale. Wonder how that will float in this area. How does one get a startup SC?

Randy I would think you could make a buck or two just selling quality trailers that fit in your area.

Go get a job at a boat dealership, even if it's a grunt labor position. You'll learn more there than you ever will on this board.

Worked at one about 14 years ago. The people that screw the customers are the grunts.

dito to what Dante said. my great grandparents started one back in 1939, then the grandparents took it over, not my parents own it. i use to think it was no big deal and didn't understand why my parents were always stressing out and so busy. now that i'm involved in the service side and a little bit of the sales side of the business i see how hard it is. John i see that you live in CA. the other day i was counting a list of tournment boat dealers. in just CA there 117 boat dealers. thats not counting the dealerships that don't sale tournment boats. thats way to many boat dealers. it would be really hard to find and boat brand that would be worth saling that doesn't already have a dealer with in 150 miles of your area.

...yeah 117 boat dealers and prolly 50% are poorly run. Word gets around. There is always room for exceptional shops.
