I just purcased my first boat!!!! A 1995 Super Sport Nautique v-drive. It is spotless with only 215 hours. The only thing that I would change is the color. Its just a little out dated. The boat has a purple and teal strip running down the length of the boat. In the front it looks like the two color are decals. How would I remove this and if i did would i have to re-gel the boat.Upload

take a blow drier or a heat gun and warm it up, it makes it alot easier to remove. When its really warm like that, it usually doesnt leave any residue. I would think that you can use some goo be gone or some other sort of gummy sticky remover if you had some left.

It might not be a bad idea to have new stickers made that would just cover up what is there. I know you can do the vynal wrap thing or probably just have a sign maker make you whatever you want.

no just take it off with a heat gun or hair dryer. If you use a heat gun be sure that you totaly pay attention to what you are doing as you can melt stuff really quickly. A hair dryer is more forgiving. Putting declas over decals is never a good idea. This is what I do for a living.

I would just do a small section first to see how bad the gel coat has faded, you might not want to take it off if there is a big difference.

Gel coat can allways be wetsanded out and made to look like new. stickers should be removed, wetsand out and buff to perfection..

I always thought that the stripes on Nautiques were in the gelcoat?

^^ I agree. To my understanding i could have sworn the base colors were always gelcoated in.

The stripes are gel coat, I can make you graphics to cover it up if you want. I would just cover the teal, that would make it feel way less 80s.

Right now I'm putting 06 graphics on a 99 Sport Nautique. Looks bitchin!
