Got a new D70 oufit and I went out shooting. I am not happy wth the pics. Anyone have input on how I can make the subject pop?

Don't expect good shots on overcast days. If you have Photo Shop you can make them look better.

It's not going to help on overcast days to make your pictures look nicer, But Since your shutter speed is at 2500. You could lower your shutter speed, so you could drop your ISO(lower ISO= less noise). You would need to shoot in priority or manual mode though.

I would start by adjusting your shutter to 1000-1600 and your f to 4.5. Then use whatever ISO will work with those settings. I am guessing 200 or 400.

In your photo software set yoru LEVELs and adjust curves. If you have unsharp mask (Pshop) or similar sharpening go pretty heavy on it.

Then if tha doesn't work do some whacked out conversions and color variations.

Those a great tips and will help but shooting on dark overcast days just flat out sucks.

shoot RAW.
manually adjust WB.
drop the ISO down.
open the apeture more to isolate rider from background.

nice shots walt!
