Hey guys I have an 02 X star I need to replace the clarion speakers in. Whats the best price point speaker out there. Of course I would like to have some wet sounds in the boat but not sure I can justify $440 for a set up. Any other thoughts.

Just picked up 2 more Polk db651's for inside the boat. Can't beat the price at $50 a pair. Last year paid double that amount.

Not sure it's the factory set up. 2002 x star the speakers have just seen better days the factory set up is not good 4 channel amp running 4 speakers and a sub. MC did a crappy job on the stereo

the momo's are a good speaker. had them in my last boat. i put the newer MM6501's in my 03 X-2. they sound great, but need a bit more power than the momo's. they fit good in the stock clarion locations. i didn't have to cut the holes, but i did have to drill new pilot holes for the screws as they were a different offset. they can be found much cheaper than the link below, but still more than the momo's

i wouldn't waste your time with the clarions, i hung them off a new amp, about 80W RMS to each crossed over at about 100-110 and i still was not happy. i ended up buying a Syn4 to power the new polks at 125W a piece and am much happier.

Damn bruce that looks good. I'm really impressed on how clean your interior is, nice work. Looks like a brand new boat.

Or maybe nobody sits in the bow LOL...

I blew up my Polk Momo MMC650's that came with my boat last summer, replaced them with the db651 this spring. I think they sound better and cost less. Be aware the impedence of those speakers that Bruce is showing. The 2.7 ohm speakers work well with 3 speakers in series to a bridged pair of amp channels.

I will second the DB651, but don't get the shallow mount(651s). I installed them in my boat and couldn't be happier.
