hey guys
im planning a trip to lake powell for the summer of '06 and was just wondering what housboat would be the best to get. There would be me my dad my friend and my friends dad. possibly my brother. so 5 people in total.
we dont want something really big and fancy just something basic. also can you guys tell me a clear answer on if there are wake specific boats to rnt on lake powel. because I am getting mixed answers on if there are or arent wake specific boats to rent there. also can you guys tell me some good places to camp there like some good arms of the lake there is. thanks

We left out of Bullfrog at Mile marker 98 and made our way south west all the way down to Dangling rope, well within 4-5 miles of Dangling rope. I did not see any wake specific boats for rent. And I doubt you will find any, if you do the cost of renting will be through the roof. I believe we had a 45 foot boat that was great. We had 4 adults and 3 kids on the boat and it was plenty of room. There are many place to camp the key is to look at the maps that they have in the shops and they tell you if there is rock wall, sand, or any other shore conditions in that area along with if it is good to poor for camping. Powel is beautiful (that an understatement) and is definitely a place to go at least once. Wakeboarding can be tricky in some of the finger if it is rock wall because the walls do not dissipate the rollers and seem to intensify them. By the time you turn around and come back the other way it looks like 50 boats just went through. But most of the fingers are so long you can go for miles without turning around.
