Danny,

you don't need a lake in Portland. The Willamete (sp) river is awesome to ride on, and goes for miles.

Danny,

If you lookin for riding in the winter months. No river around Portland will be able to ride on. To fast of a current and full of tree's to run over.
There are a few lakes outside of Portland, such as Koppert Lake of Active Water Sports. Though you do have to pay to use the lake it is open all year around and been featured in some of Jack's Back Yard Films movies. There is also a private Lake, Lake Oswego but you need to be apart of the home owners association to be able to get on the lake. There is Lake Lackamas (not sure on the spelling)in Camas Washington that is about 35-45 mins away from Portland but may have towing restrictions. And then about 3 hours away is the what we call the Cove and has been in Jack's film as well and also as one of the places we filmed last year.

Danny..

We start wakeboarding in late April to the begining of March on the Willamette. But still have to watch for a few logs. But in June it should be really no prob to go on the river just make sure you bring someone that knows the river. There is allot of things under the water that can do some damage.
