This baffles me a bit. Maybe it's been answered before? Wakeboarding is pretty much an American sport (not exclusively of course but predominantly) and it certainly has it's roots in America (if my history is correct?). Most wakeboard mfrs. are US based. Hyperlite and CWB are in Washington and Liquid Force is in California. So why are all wakeboard lengths all in Centimeters? Was there some underlying reason?

I'm guessing here but maybe because the sizes are smaller than inches? a 139 and a 141 would be the same number of inches almost? Just a guess.

Maybe cause almost al the rest of the world uses the metric system...

because the metric system is a much easier system to read and remember. As compared to the inch scale.

its easier to say that my new board is a 142 compared to a 4.7 footer, or a 55" board.

its an offshoot of snowboards, which is where wakeboarding is also rooted and where boards are also measured in cm. Most of the world is metric, so its a marketing strategy as well

anything related to manufacturing (all wakeboards are pressed overseas) will be less expensive if metric. Not less expensive because its inherently cheaper to machine metric stuff, but because the number of CAD/CAM problems you have over the life of the mold making process will be smaller.

I think Byerly is using the inches on his boards. I always wondered that too.

Dillon who doesn't press their boards overseas? Not GB/HL/LF/RX, I'm not sure about CWB or Obrien, maybe a few high end boards, but well over 90% of all 07 boards are made in asia. I know Ronix and GB want to press boards here, but they haven't pulled it off yet.

Byerlys decided to measure his board in inches because its different, plus he's a real American, & thats the way Americans measure things. Screw the metric system. If it was so damn awesome we would have switched a long time ago, but it isnt, so we havent. BTW...it made you remeber HIS board, because its the only one measured in inches. (not bitchin to anyone directley)
