gas & food $...what do you spend?

so i'm sitting here looking and the 2007 year end summary of my credit card...trying to forecast my summer budget for 2008. i put every thing on my one card, so i'm about 95% accurate. i'm curious to see what others spend on these two very necessary commodities that every wakeboarder uses.

from April 1st to Oct 1st my MONTHLY costs (just for me...no children to take care of) are approximately.
$225 on food (anything bought at a grocery store...no restraunts)
$800 on gas (boat & car)

Am I high, low, or avg....what do you spend?

This summer, my wife and I started putting all our gas on one card. For two trucks, boat, lawn mower we average around $600 a month during the summer and around $450 this winter. We don't travel that much so the bulk of our gas is to and from work, but we use our boat almost daily during the summer.

WOW!...what kind of trucks do you have??? my gas was spent on 1 jeep grand cherokee, and my boat. it's 24 miles round trip to work, and only 8 miles round trip to the boat launch. i hardly drove anywhere else. boarded about 5 times a week.

did you board every time you were on your boat? do you use a lot of ballast?

I have a 07 Tundra and the wife has an 86 Tahoe. We would board for about an hour or two every morning during the weekend and for about an hour every evening after work. We usually spend one whole day at the lake on the weekends just hanging out and floating around.

Well I can say that we spend about $200-$300 on boat gas a week during the summer. I dont spend it all, lots of people though down on gas money, but I am the one who usually fills the tank, I too use the same credit card everytime. I only use this card for boat gas in the summer the bill is usaully $800-1200 a month depending on the weather. Damn that makes me sick to admitt that. THanks Jay for making come clean as a wakeboard junky.

Straight cash homie. It keeps my spending in check. If I just unloaded everything on a credit card, I would get a bill that would knock me over.

I kinda have an un-fair advantage, the gas for my 07 Avalanche is free. I work in Oil & Gas. However I do spent $1100 to $1200 of the companies money per month for gas. Funny part is they still pay me salary, overtime, car allowance and $.525 cents per mile.

Just added up food from a grocery store and it looks like $500 to $600 per month. Its just me and my G/F and we still eat out often. Note to self, I think we need to work on a food budget...

Boat gas comes in at $650-$1100 per month... Ouch!!!

Andy - i got a qweezy feeling in my stomach when I saw how much I spend on gas too...that's why I had to see if anyone else is in the same boat.

Crap... I've got an 1100 dollar bill to pay off, and I'll still need to pay for gas this summer. I'm so screwed.

I'm going to try to limit myself to one or two sets a day (most likely one, cause I usually don't stop until I wind up in too much pain to continue on, but then I go again later), but after doing the math, that would still eat up 40 dollars of gas a day....

To save money, I'm going to spend a lot of time working on my actual riding technique (like switch and hitting the slider) behind a jetski. It'll be a lot cheaper that way. I'm so glad that we don't have to tow our boat to the lake...

As for food, I just won't eat. I'll go on the mega diet of doom. Free popcorn and coke at the movie theater I work at and that's it!

I didnt put up a price oops. I run a lightly loaded (maybe 900lbs with people) sport nautique and I take 3-4 passes per week with another friend that does the same with a few straglers in there too and I would guess about 200 a month on gas. I have to trailer 20 miles and work schedules conflict sometime and now I am laid off for potentially most of the summer, I would guess I wont be riding as much so i can still afford the house.

Just filled up the work truck, $125. I have to do that 2-3 times a week...

I heat my house in the winter and gas the boat in the summer. Works out about the same, avg. $500-600/month. Luckily, we don't need air conditioning in the summer.

I got a part time job just to support my summer wakeboarding habit. It's a sweet piggy bank and I still get 3 or 4 days off a week to ride. Thank god the Delta is so close since diesel in tracy just went up to $4.18. I refuse to go to lakes anymore...its like a $300 day

i've been living off pb&j and water for about 27 years now....

You know you have problems when you have to eat Weiner Water Soup....

(Boil hot dogs first day, save left over water and eat with crackers the next day!), filling and cheap...

Thats how I survived my early twenties....

Thats worse than eating top ramon Chico style...just take it out of the package, sprinkle with seasoning and enjoy....then repeat. lol

In the summer of 2006, I averaged $1000 per month in fuel. Of course, I was the boat owner getting reimbursed by most of the riders, but still, lot of damn money. Some months went as high as $1400.00

just wait till this time next year and we'll all have to compare again...

Unfortunately I am serious, being a young Airman in the Air Force living off base and having to save every penny for BEER we became very creative in ways to eat. Since we lived off base we could not eat at the chow hall without paying for it.

We did the weiner water soup and another favorite was the "anything stew", that is the stew you make with anything you can find in the fridge and cabinet, we were very desperate.

J-Rod, Im about the same as you for the boat during the summer. But I spent about $1,000.00 for gas at shasta for the week of the 4th of july last year. Ouch, that was alot. but we had an awesome time so it was worth it.

for me in about 4 months it was about 11000 for truck and boat. that is us filling up the boat 2 times aday and riding everyday 10 to 12 hrs aday. the only reason i know this is because my dad informs me all the time.
