from andrew's new q&a:

quote:

It wasn't a legit osmosis trick because I let go with my right hand and caught it with my left.

i've heard that an osmosis trick requires letting go and reacquiring the handle with the same hand. and according to wakeboarder.com's trick list glossary for spins, this is the case:

quote:

Osmosis: When the rider performs a spin by tossing the handle from one hand to the same hand again, bypassing the other hand - Invented by Shaun Murray

but this seems an unnecessary restriction. not to mention it makes it awfully difficult to do an osmosis 3 doesn't it? or would that be a suicide 3?

Does that mean that an osmosis 3 can only be done with a BS spin? On HS FS (regular stance) you would initiate the spin by pulling the rope behind you with your right hand. If you had to catch it with your right hand, you would most likely do an Osmosis 5.

but you don't do bs spins with the same hand either - for a regular footed rider you'd initiate the bs spin with your left hand and handle-pass it to your right. to do an osmosis backside spin would be even tougher.

im sure its more contingency that formed the name rather than logistics. but it does seem that requiring the same hand to grab the handle again means only 5's are real osmosis options.

Chris you can do an osmosis 3, however, 5's probably seem more natural.
