The last few years I've kept pretty good records on the fuel I put in my boat. I had the stock prop on my 04 VLX for the 07 season and after about 100 hours that season I burned an average of about 6.7 GPH. I changed to a 1235 Acme prop this year and my fuel usage did go down. Keep in mind this is an average over the season and some trips burned more fuel than others based on rider preferences with speed/ballast. With the 1235 prop the low average for a specific trip was 3.59 GPH and a high of 8.65 GPH (this was the only trip that broke the 8 GPH mark). The average over the season (87 engine hours) was 5.1 GPH. At around $4/gal for most of the season here in the NW I pretty much paid for the prop change this season with an average 1.6 GPH of fuel saved. For reference...04 VLX/340 Monsoon/wedge/with extra ballast over stock. I did lose about 3-4 mph off the top end with the prop change, but I never drive that fast anyway. Just thought I would share.
