Removing the ski pole on a super sport

Yesterday I was Installing my ballast and sense I had the whole boat tore apart I decided to go ahead and take the pole out. But it has three U bolts that hold it in with the bottom one notched into the pole to hold it down. My problem is the gas tank is in the way of removing the bottom U bolt. So I tried to loosen the gas tank but its full for the winter. Is there something I'm doing wrong or do i just need to wait until the tank it empty to remove it.

You could cut the u bolt or wait.

what year SS. I was able to remove my pole without removing the gas tank. Can you access the back side of the u-bolts through the circle panel in the ski locker?

I was also able to remove my pole without having to do anything with the gas tank. I have a '97 Super Sport.

I can reach the back of the bolt from the circle panel and i took the floor out but the sides of the bottom U bolt want clear the pole. Because when i try to side it out the tank prevents it from sliding it back far enough.

I had to completely remove the nuts from the u-bolts so the u-bolts come completely off. Then the pole should slide right out.

I have all nuts off. Its just the bottom U bolt that is pissing me off because the bolt want slide far enough back to clear its bracket. So the sides of the bolt want let go of the pole.
