Fusion Quick Release Speaker Clamps - Anyone using them? Do they work well?

Upload

I just got a great new fiberglass enclosure from Twakess/Squid here on the boards for my 6x9's and am trying to find a good way to mount it and be able to take it down when not at the lake.

Bocephus- The quick release clamp is not yet available from Fusion. They have finished prototype testing to insure functionality, and are going into production as we speak. We expect to have the clamp sometime towards the end of the month, or the beginning of May.

It should be a good application for fiberglass enclosures though, and I think many people will appreciate the quality of the product.

My only concern would be getting the clamp tight enough on the tower just by using the handle, so it wouldn't move around. I prefer the type quick releases where the clamp stays fixed to the tower, sems more soldi that way. I'm anxious to hear feedback on Fusion's design.

So does anyone know the size of tubing on my tower?

Measure around it and divide by 3.14

Looks like 1 7/8. check the skylon site to be 100% sure.

No way is that 1-7/8ths. I look at the ski pylon behind it which is much thicker than that. Any way you slice it you will have to also fit some kind of non-slip sleeve under the clamp to prevent damage to the tower and keep it from moving.

Actually, it looks like something I might use to mount a universal bimini to my tower.

per the website it even says 1 7/8 for the skylon swoop.

http://www.skylonaudio.com/skylon/productload.asp?product=1#

the ski pylon does look a hair bigger, might just be the angle of the picture??

the ski pylon is tapered, it's fat on the bottom and gets smaller at the top. I will have to go home and measure before I order I guess.

I had to go measure mine again.

I guess I miss-read the dial caliper the first time I measured. It measures 1.890". I must have read it as 1.990" the first time (a few weeks ago.)

So yes, 1 Inch 7/8s

Craig, you'll want the small clamp size. Skylon Swoop tower built prior to 2004 are 1 7/8", after that they are 2".

The Fusion clamp includes their collared mounting system to insure a perfect fit and prevent damage to the tower. With that rubber sleeve in place it's very easy to tighten the clamp enough so that your accessories won't move around.

I placed the order this morning and even spoke to Jason, LOL. I will let everyone know how they work out. I hope they hold my heavy speakers in place!

Thanks Again!

You know, after looking at the photo again, the windshield frame is making the tubing look fatter. So you can order these from wakeside now?

Thx
