which is better wet or dry.cause in all the movies i have been watching on wakepics.com they riders have been wearing the dry. my bro said it makes sense brcause the wetsuit transfers cold water to warm and when your out of the water 70% of the time it wouldnt help much wear as the drysuit no water even touches you.

...it just depends on how cold the water is dude! Thats the only difference...... if its wetsuit weather then thats by far the safest bet but if its too cold you need the drysuit sometimes.

A drysuit is the only way to go IMO.

Hey I lost my email too! waterislife.net is sold! Working on a new domain name. BTW it is still in my profile and working still somehow? You can use cobesweb@yahoo.com

If you do a search under drysuit/wetsuit tons of info is available from past discussions.

You'll know when its time for the dry suit. I go from the shorty,to the full wet suit, then the dry suit. Last year Dec 5 , water temp 38 , air temp 40 was our last day, with the dry suit.

Anyone herd of these. Go to www.Stohlquist.com. I am getting two of the blue Whitewater drysuits and two to the blue bunny suits out the door for $400.00. Has anyone used these? I can't wait to try them out. Last year my we went out in 34.4 degree water with a shorty(BURRRRRR). We hope not to ever have that problem again if these really work! But these are not typical suits, they are designed for whitewater extremists. Anywho, I'll let ya know how good they work.

I like my dry suit, but it is so tight at the seals that it feels like i am being strangled. Keeps me nice and cozy, though.

I agree with Jason and that is why a good wetsuit works so well, as it keeps you dry.

I've got this one, it's gore-tex so You're really not gettin sweaty inside. I've been using it for two seasons, it's very rigid and no water coming through the seals anytime. Been riding it at 33° Water-temperatur and below 32° air and it was cosy, really.

I went te web site and they are over 5 bills each!

I need to get 2 drysuits but not at that price!

If the seals are to tight , I used a scuba tank for the neck, let it stay like that for a week or so ,and would put on the silicone lubricant, here and there. It helped , then I used water bottles for the wrist and ankles.

I have a full length wetsuit and recently added a drysuit. I much prefer the drysuit -- I stay dry, warm and cozy.

I say go with a drysuit especially if you will possibly share it with others. I think hell is having to put on a cold wet wetsuit, you never have that problem with a drysuit.

Straight from board shorts to the drysuit. I hate putting on a wet wetsuit.

To each their own. I wear my wetsuit as long as I can stand it, but when the water and air temp hover around 40 degrees I love the fact that I can wear my sweat pants and a long sleeve shirt under my drysuit and not have to change when I get back in the boat.

I just got my first drysuit this year and I may never wear a wetsuit again. More comfy and warmer. There is definitely something to be said for riding in sweats.

What is worn on feet and hands to keep them warm? Or do you just sacrifice feet and hands?

Yes they are over 5 bills each but I am only paying $249.99 for a suit and a bunny and these are better than the average suits. compared to this bare suit, http://www.gotriver.com/BARE_ultra_drysuit.htm and this suit is at this price for just the suit!

I must be tripp'in cause the price for a , thats 1 drysuit was over 5 bills, when I can get a suit from grizzly sports for $275 or even the local shop is cheaper than 5 bills!

Once I used a drysuit---never used wetsuit again!!
Plus, if you are going to ride more than one set, the drysuit is the only way to go. As well as the fact that you can share the cost/use with your friends--ever put on a wet-wetsuit?

Try e-bay....

I've been looking for a dry suit for a while. I've lost a couple of bid battles for dry suits in the past week, but I finally got one yesterday.

I won an auction for a Bare Pro Edge dry suit. According to the seller it had only been used twice and is in excellent condition. It cost me $182 including shipping. Not too bad! I guess I'll find out in a few days if it's in as good of condition as the seller says it is.

John, 38 degrees, that's commitment!

I think you can stimulate some sort of mammalian diving reflex when you catch an edge in that kind of water.

My head hurts thinking about it.
By the way do still serve the drink called a "Water Tower" in Oxford?

One of the many problems I have with drysuits are they cant take the abuse that wetsuits can and still be functional. When wetsuits get damaged you dont even notice but the leaky drysuit is a tragedy.

The Sahara Drysuit is built more like a wetsuit except that it keeps you dry. I don't think I'd fit in mine so well with sweats but I've never needed more than boardshorts and a t-shirt in it to stay warm. Mine is old old old (flourescent orange old) but has held up great. It has a small leak in the crotch that is somewhat noticeable but isn't a problem for the most part. I say get a Sahara Drysuit. http://www.boardco.com/shop/shopexd.asp?id=557
