Just finished my tower hlcd setup (thanks for all for the help/encouragemnt, especially searaydave and Jim Aikins!!)
Got em up there and realized that the amp I was using isn't gonna cut it. So, trying to decide between:

Alpine PDX-4.150 (running in 2 ch)
Soundstream XTA880.2
Punch 650.2
Hifonics Zxi1006

Anyone care to comment on their favorites and/or why NOT to get one over another??

BTW- the setup is (2) 8" Eminence Beta 8A's on the inside and (2) 8" Eminence Beta 8CX coaxial drivers with Selinum HLCD's on the outside.
It's wired to present a 4 ohm load to the amp on each side. I can change this to 2 ohm, but to keep the amps a little cooler, I figured I'd try this setup first.
Thanks.

I don't mind the Punch, but none of the amps would be a top choice for me. I don't know much about the speakers, so it is hard for me to provide any kind of real thoughts or input.

james- sounds like you have an hse trident box, as do i. if you can find a ppi 4125 that is the amp to go with. it puts up way more power than the box will ever need and i got mine for about 325 bucks(ebay).
btw check with jim about running wiring at 2 ohms. i dont think it can be done

Glad you got your project completed James. When are you going to post some pics? The PPI 4125 would be a great choice for the amp.

The PPI in the classifieds is not sold. He hasn't gotten back with me. I'm actually thinking of going another route. If you guys want it, hit him up. It's definitely a good amp.

I prefer Hifonics, but thats just me. Back in the day they use to be a lot better, always 1 Ohm stable, now they are just 2 Ohm stable. I run all my Hifonics at 2 Ohms and have never had a heat or cutout issue.
