I heard on the radio last night that there is potentially going to be a drought this summer in NorCal. It was a confusing story as they went right in to what an awful fire season it will be in SoCal.

Anyways I was wondering how this will affect Shasta. Any Norcal riders been hearing anything about this?

Ummm- a drought doesn't necesarily start in the summer. We've had about 1" of rain here in So Cal this season, so its pretty much official. Nor Cal has gottem more than us but way less than normal, so lake levels will be lower and hillsides will be drier.

Apparently we are around %50 percent of normal. Not dire yet, but we definitely need to think about using water sparingly.

Fact is we are down on rain but we had such a good year the past few I would not worry about lake levels to much (they can get a lot lower than you realize). As far as Shasta goes dont worry untill you can see the ghost town then we have a problom. Always good to conserve better safe than sorry.

Lakes will be fine this summer. The past two years have put us at 140% of storage capicity, despite a dry year this year. Shasta will be ok, way up north hasnt been as bad as central cali. If we have a another year like this year next year, and the year after that, then we can call it a drought.
