I've seen in previous posts that 82-89 ski nautiqes have great wakes for older inboards. I came across an 81 barefoot nautique and don't know how 81's compare to the 82-89's wake. Anybody know anything about 1981 barefoot nautique?

I know the 81 is a different shaped hull. I have seen pictures of the pre-82 barefoot wake and it didnt look very good. I own a 1983 2001 and definately suggest getting a 2001 hull if you get the chance. Test drive the 1981 first, if the wake looks good then it might be worth it. The pictures I saw of an old barefoot were very washed out.

The previous hull to the 2001 does just fine. Here's a pic if you'd like to take a look. But, it's not a Barefoot (see profile). I do believe the Barefoots throw a washed wake.

By the way, the pic I posted is weightless, with 4 people in the boat, and a 5 foot deep river.

A BAREFOOT NAUTIQUE (BFN) is its own unique hull. Totally different running surface than a SKI NAUTIQUE. BFN's original hull design was designed for 38-48 MPH straight ahead. It does have a respectable WB wake when it is ballasted up correctly. Keep in mind all original BFN's where powered by 454's

Looks like he(rider) was pulling past the boat.

Yeah, it was stopped or just idling forward. The river is narrow. Happens all the time.

Thanks Guys. Going to look for the 82-89 ski nautiques. Keep hearing good things about their wakes.

The real 454 barefoot nautiques sometimes had the "2001" graphic on them but the hull is unique to the Barefoot Nautique...it is a deep v with v all the way to to stern the prop sits deep down in the water...this aint no flat bottom ski boat...it throws a monster wake at 22 mph...and the hull is heavy and the motor is heavy I think they were 3200 lbs or so, they drive like a tank, but will run 40 over 4-5 foot chop rollers but you better hang on!!!!!
