I'm debating on pulling the sub in my new xstar and replacing it with a 10" W6 or W7! Has any one done this, and if so how did you box in behind it. I was thinking about leaving the stock alone and just adding a 12 w7 under the passengers seat!

Working on mine with 2 10W6v2's one in the stock location, and one directly across from it. Also a 12W7 under the dash. The plan is to cut a square hole in the fiberglass and use a grill consisting of matching vinyl, the metal X-Star logo, and gray cheesecloth. That way you can use whatever conventional box you want under the seats and dash. We'll see how it turns out!

I'm going to replicate this setup on my '07. This was originally in my '04 which hopefully has been put out of it's misery by Mastercraft by now. If I can dig up any pics I will pass them along. Matt

I wouldnt use the stock box, if your trying to be cheap with this, you shouldnt go with a dub seven. My freind has 2 in custom sealed boxes.Upload

If I'm spending the scratch on W6's and W7's no one on earth could convince me to leave those things exposed with so little protection. Though the install is VERY CLEAN.

As for my '04 I don't even know if I'm allowed to say. The boat went back to MasterCraft and an '07 showed up. Sufficed to say I'm still a loyal MC customer. If you guys are really intrested PM me, I have no need to give certain people here fodder to bash others boats. Matt

Most people put them under the seats.

the only thing you would see is a cover over the old sub port, at least with my buddies. subtle is the way to go. Loose the LED's and plexiglass view ports... slick, subtle, and classy.... thats how we roll.

What are the thoughts here about firing the subs directly into the passenger area? I remember some conjecture on here about stupid it was and that you would get much better sound pointing the subs at a solid surface. Anyone remember that?
