A local store in town has 13 sets for 59.99 a set. I am building tower speakers, will these work? I will run the Clarion APX480M amp with each channel running two 6.5's, four on the tower and four in the boat.

they will work, but you may want to consider 3 or 4 ways. I had some Pioneer 4ways that just killed.

I would go with the Polk DB series. They are rated @ 93db. In an open environment like a boat the speaker sensitivity is very important. I had 2 sets in my last boat and loved them. They are a little more expensive however but not much
