I'm looking for a board that has a mellow turn but once you initiate the turn sits deep in the water and approaches the wake real slow but really pops you up when you reach the top of the wake. any suggestions?

...sounds like my marius.....don'y know how deep it sits relative to other boards.....but once you go on edge....it can go pretty hard. my profile is off my 17.5 crestliner speed bump. (Message edited by absoluteboarder on July 11, 2007)

try the murrey. It rides very deep, slow you can really load the line for huge pop and once you edge hard that thing goes. It is on the heavy side though.

I'd say the Absolute or the older shape Transcend. That thing had so much rocker that it looked like you were doing a wheelie as you rode around. You want a ton of pop the Transcend is where its at.

I agree with big heavy, the transcend rides SLOW... Im going to also put in a vote for the byerly, in my experiences, the byerly has ridden low, locked in for edges, and slow...

You described the 06 CWB Transcend to a T, Slow rides deep with big straight up pop, great wake to wake riding board.

Russell the Transcend takes it to a whole new level of pop. Yeah the Pure might have tendencies that way but the Transcend is ridiculous. Paul, I thought the Subjekt was pretty quick. Compared to my Absolute at least. Edit: I wouldn't agree that the Marius sits deep in the water. With all that surface area it feels like you are riding significantly higher than regular boards. Would it be safe to say that most CWB boards are "slow"? If not, what R the "faster" CWB boards?

paul, the subjekt has got to be one of the fastest boards I have ever ridden and one of my favorites too.

Ron going from a substance to demoing a premier I found the thing to be slow, heavy, but it had explosive straight up pop. The school I ride with also switched one of the girls off the premier to the vault because she was struggling too much to get the board to be as fast and responsive as she wanted.

Wow, I've never heard people refer to the Subjekt as fast. I guess I'll shut up now. It does sit really low in the water and pop you straight up though.

jjakober, the newer Transcend is faster, and the Faction board is a little quicker. Depending on which fin (if any) you ride can change the speed, but generally yes they are pretty damn slow.

paul, not saying your wrong but the subjekt has next to no rocker and is flat as texas on the bottom, it's got to be fast.

Love your boat Shane! I always felt like I was being drug behind the boat on a Subjekt, and that it was really deep in the water. It may be that it releases really late that makes me think it sits low. I do ride the TFD/3DS/Empire though, so anythings slow compared to that. I felt my Motive shaped Belmont, Trip, and Valhalla are all faster as well.

thanks paul, the reason I don't ride the subjekt anymore is cause I kept stuffing the nose on the wake from the boat you like so much. not enough rocker

era isnt slow imo. the old transcend is real slow, the byerly isnt slow but it aint fast. the fish is slow. i didnt find the parks very fast either. generally speaking 3 stage boards are slower and the more rocker the slower the board

What is the advantage of a slower or faster board? I've always felt like I wanted a really fast board but this thread has made me think what are the advatages of each. Perhaps a slow board would allow one to stay in control better? I don't know, anyone have any input?

I think it's personal preference. I prefer a faster board because I don't have to work as hard to generate speed into the wake (especially toe-side) which allows me to ride a longer set and I can keep the boat speed down (22.5) and still ride at 80'. I ride the Natural and it's one of the fastets 3 stage boards around. You still get the pop of a 3 stage rocker board, but the speed of the continuous rocker board. I prefer a slower board because it gives you a mellow approach and allows you to have more time to get in the best body position to maximize your vertical pop. I like to go up not out and slow boards do it for me.

Just because a board is fast does not mean you have to rocket into the wake. You can take a fast board into the wake as mellow as you want. There's just less drag so everything takes less effort.

Chris, Very true...I know this guy who used to take a super fast cut into the wake and get no pop and land about 10' in the flats going mach 90!! Now he rides the Cartel, which is another super fast 3 stage board, and his cuts are slowed down and more progressive, now he pops way higher and lands soft and smooth!!
