how is Apple Aperture ?

looking to by a raw photo editor... how is Apple Aperture ? adobe just released Lightroom...

any thoughts on how the 2 compare ?

I had both demo and beta versions of both at one time and ended up deciding on aperture. though there are a few things that I found to be not quite appealing I still went with aperture due to its ease and organization seemed to be better. Reguardless it is still pretty sweet. Other than the fact that since I began shooting mostly RAW my hard drive space has gone down the tubes. Infact, I am out the door here soon to buy a new HD.

Had both demo versions. Although I think I liked Aperture a little better I went with lightroom since it seemed to be a little less hardware intensive (I have a macbook pro with 2 gigs ram, etc..)

Demo both for yourself and chose the one you like better...they are both great.

BTW...I have an aperture book up for grabs if anyone wants it. Just paypal me $5 for shipping and I will send it off. It has about 350-400 pages and cost about $35 when I got it a few months ago

I'm a big Aperture fan as well but as Bakes pointed out it's pretty hardware intensive. I wouldn't run it on anything less then an Intel Mac tower or a MBP (preferably with a core2duo)

Haven't tried Lightroom but it looks pretty nice as well. I just don't have enough brain cells left to learn any new software, I feel like I have Aperture fairly dialed in and will live/die with it!

Has anyone done anything within lightroom print templates? I'm hoping to be able to create a print template to use to compile multiple shots into poster layouts on one print out.

Probably have to push the images out to CS3 but thought it might be worth asking about.
