...but I have a ballast question. Well, kind of.

I just got my sacks and pump (Rule 1100). I had planned on filling the sacks this weekend, but after reading a number of threads, I'm concerned about how to fill them.

Is it possible to hang a tube connected to the input of the pump over the side of the boat to fill the sacks?

If not, how do I go about filling two sacks until I can get a thru-hull scoop mounted?

No it's not; the pump has to be under water with the outlet tube coming back into the boat to fill up the sacs.

yep, throw the pump in the water.. Be sure the hose and electrical are attached well. I watched my buddy throw a one-hunder dollar 2000gph pump over the side and we never saw it again.

Thanks guys! I experimented tonight with a 5 gallon bucket and it worked like a champ. Couldn't believe how much 1100 GPH was...

Think I put a leash of some sort on it, just in case.

does a tsunami pump have to be in the water too?

Craig, it was more like a $150.00 rule pump. What a bummer.

yes, tsunami has to be in the water too. these are aerator style pumps - not reversible kind. all aerators have to be in the water. impeller style pumps are reversible and will prime themselves
