I just heard on Good Morning America that Pawxatoney Phil, or whatever his name is saw his shadow this morning, which gives us 6 more weeks of Winter. Cool for the snow side (no pun intended) but sucks for us wake heads that are ready for an early season. I rode as late as I could, but after three bouts with colds and flu, and bronchitus once....I'm waiting on warmer water. As the great Ted Nugent would say, "let's kill and grill" the hog!!! DC

Ohio sucks? Try Seattle. We just had the third wetest month EVER. I think it was close to 13in. Just for January. We also saw 29 days of measurable rain mixed between Dec and Jan. Hoping the new boat gets here before the spring thaw so I have something to safe myself in. But you're right it EXCELLENT for us snow heads.

Well if it makes anyone feel better our two groundhogs here in Eastern Canada did not see their shadows and are calling for an early spring. That coupled with the warmest winter ever leads me to think he will be correct in calling for an early spring. And if majority rules, 2-1 groundhogs call for the early spring.

I was gonna say "farmers almanac is more accurate than some critter that pops out of the ground"...but after looking at the Almanac again, the predictions for the NorthEast are WAY WRONG! Almost nothing matched up for what has happened this season... regardless...none of these will change when the Spring Solstice arrives which is my real personal indicator that the wakeboard season is about to begin!

The Spring Solstice, also known as the vernal equinox, is the first day of Spring. Ground Hog day, originally known as Candlemas, is the half-way point between the Winter Solstice (the first day of Winter) and the vernal equinox. Got that?

Jake, the only difference with the American groundhogs and their Canadian counterparts is that ours drink better beer ;)

Well the hog must be on track....weatherman says cold CANADIAN air is headed to the SE for the next 6 to 10 days, and we're supposed to get snow flurries in and around Charlotte on Monday! Thanks! On the bright side, the High Country up near Boone, NC is supposed to get some pretty heavy snow, and I just picked up a new Burton 156 Wide. I guess I'll head out to the boat show this weekend and drool, then hit the slopes next weekend......Still dreaming of warm water days! Now I know how a crackhead with no money feels!

Mann, it must be the dead of winter when American and Canadian wakeboarders are going back and forth about a stupid hog sticking his head out of the ground. Man, I'm itching to ride...

Did anyone notice one the groundhog website, that when they did the shadow ceremony, it wasn't even dawn yet? Look at the pics there is NO sun. Now tell me, how the heck did that bastard Phil see it's shadow?
