Boat Insurance

I saw a topic recently on here about where to get good prices on boat owners insurance. Someone said they were paying only around $100 per year. Does anyone remember who that was with, or have other good suggestions?

I have had a number of boats over the years, all insured by BOAT/US.

In every case the cost of the insurance was ~1% of the boats value. This provided full coverage, including unisured boater and $300,000 in liability.

If the insurance only costs $100 per year, it probably sucks and you really don't want it. Like Rod said, make sure you get full coverage, including $300,000 in liability. (if you own a house you may want even more)

Full coverage on a brand new SAN TE through Progressive or WestMar is about $700 per year. (only $600 if you stick with the high $1000 deductables) This is in line with Rod's 1% estimate.
