Yesterday was my first ride of the season and lake erie was perfect for once. Water was 53 and air was 75 so i got to try my new bare drysuit and new team/sphynx setup. I like them both a lot but this was only my 6th time ever riding i think. I watched waketrix and was practicing the cut back drill. After doing that both away and towards the wake heel and toeside i decided to try to do a jump out of the wake. After a few tries i got to wear i could at least get the board out of the water but if i really tried to get air or tried jumping into the wake instead of out i would just crash hard. What could be causing these crashes? They started giving me a head ache after a while so i called it quits for the day.

In my experience with jumping out of the wake like waketrix tells you too, if you dont have decent board control you are going to eat it. The hop in drills are great, but to hop out it is usually better (for me) to ollie out if I want air. Trust me I had the same problem when I was first starting out and I had waketrix for a guide.

So I would suggest practicing your ollies in the flats and then carry that over to the hop out drill. Worked for me anyways. Congrats on getting back in the water. We have been riding now for 4 months and have been trunking it for 2 months here in Alabama. Clay
