You'll have a learning curve with any new editing program so don't let that hold you back. Because you already have some editing experience switching over to a more advanced program should not be a problem for you. You will be able to pick up editing basics in no time and then your can learn the more advanced if you want to put the time into it.
I would check out the FREE version of Avid (this would be a perfect transition from your programs to a more "professional" editing application):
