Are you sure it's only going 37.4 mph? That seems a little slow at 4600 rpm. My '01 Malibu V-drive w/325 hp motor tops out at about 47 mph at about 5000 rpm, which is dead nuts on with my hand held GPS. GPS doesn't lie. At 4600 rpm am at about 42 mph.

My PP is off by about 5-7 mph at the higher speeds as well. Why?, I have no idea. I think maybe where the paddle wheel is located it doesn't completely see "clean water". The water temp. probe is mounted pretty close to the paddle wheel and maybe causing some disturbance. Regardless I use rpm mode at for skiing. The PP is accurate at low speeds according to my GPS for wakeboarding at about 18-22 mph. I finding the PP seems to work pretty good in rpm mode at low speeds as well.

I guess the answer to my question lies in a global positioning system

I don't know how Wakeboard Pro works, but on our Digital Pro, we have to adjust the speedometer once we take it through the course and calibrate it. When we run the magnets and get the correct RPM it asks to adjust speedo. That can change the speed by a couple mph on ours usually.

jude, When we got our boat both the PP & regular speedos were off by a lot, but they didn't agree either. Get yourself a cheapo GPS & calibrate both with it. (There is a way to calibrate the speedo on the Wakeboard Pro model.) You should be running at least 7 or 8 mph faster than that. If your speedos are correct, your boat may be propped incorrectly.

How can you adjust the speed on PPWP? I cannot find my owners manual and I know it is off by a couple mph. Ryan, Why would you spend 100K on a boat that only goes 38mph?

Perfect Pass has downloadable manuals on their website. They also have a simulator that you can use for dry land training.

Perfect pass pro has magnet kits that allow you to run through the slalom course and calibrate it automatically.

Who cares how fast your boat can go. I didn't buy my ski boat to go fast I bought it so I could pull 3 skiers out of the water and not have to worry about it. The real question is does your boat function correctly/accurately for what you bought it for. If your worried about top end speed, re-pitch the prop but you'll sacrifice hole shot performance.

I think Jude is just angry cause my boat gets up quicker and goes faster than his. Its a mans-size thing!! But- it could be cause he had some extra poundage in their though. I have a three blade acme and Judes is 4 blade stock. I am pretty sure my boat runs an almost perfect 1:100 ratio, cause I GPS'd it before and it seemed accurate comparing rpm's to gps. I think it topped around 42-45mph and rpm were 4200-4500. My boat is also narrower and shorter than his. 1988 nautique 2001 Jude if we go to the lake I will bring my GPS.

I hear you. Have fun getting it all dialed in. All I know is that I have owned 5 power/ski boats in my lifetime to date and it really pays to research the market and test drive the crap out of them before you buy. If my buddies '01 Malibu didn't have 1200 hrs, yes 1200 hrs I probably wouldn't of bought what I did. He's like the poster child for Malibu. He ski's probably about 3-4 time a week all year round. Performs regular maintenance on his boat and other than a little wear and tear the thing runs as good as the day he bought it. It really pays to listen to the people using the products out there in this industry.

Ryan, You should talk to your dealer about the speed. It doesn't sound right. If it is right, then I am sure you will have just as much fun if the thing ran 45. When are you going to post some wake pics?
