Greg, when I did mine I used under car LED lighting kit. Some people use neon or cold cathodes.

I did LEDs because they are cheap and very low voltage. Took me an afternoon to wire in 6 LED light bars (two in the bow, one under the observer's seat, one under the driver's side dash and two along the sides.

I got my kit off of ebay for $100.

Neil: You made the tubes yourself? That's great, They look brighter than the ones I have, I have the Varad LED's and for the amount of tubes I have (4) I would think they would produce more Light?
I wonder if the ones you Made have brighter LED's or it's just the way the Photo was shot, My lights are on the back side of the trim pannel and I would say they are about 1 foot away from the floor I know the closer they are to a surface the brighter or more reflection you get. Your's are real close to the cup holder so I know they will be brighter just because the light has a shorter distance to bounce off of. I was thinking of swaping them out for Neon's

Ive never seen neon's brighter than the led's I build. I use all superbright made by samsung. Holla at me if need any tubes
