I have a 2001 23V Limited Riders Edition with the 350 MPI (315 HP). I am currently running a OJ prop (came stock with the boat). According to the branding on the prop it is a 14x18 prop. I think I have the Synchro Teck 1.5:1 drive (at least I remember Tige Watersports telling me that the boat has the Synchro Tech), but now I am not sure. I see a plaque on the drive or transmission that says: Velvet, Ratio 1:1. The drive portion beyond that is painted blue. I am just guessing that there must be another section of the drive that I can't see that is the Synchro Tech that has the 1.5:1 ratio. Do I have the Synchro Tech 1.5:1?

I am asking because I contacted Acme Marine to order a new Acme prop and use the OJ as a spare. They want to know which drive I have so they can sell me the right prop.

I sent this same message to Tige. But I just figured to throw this out here for a quick answer.

Garrett,

There are two ways to identify that your v-drive is the Synchrotech. 1) It is painted blue - the 1:1 is painted black. 2) The 14x18 prop only goes with the Synchrotech - if you had the 1:1, you would have a 13x13 prop.

Thanks, I mention the color blue because I thought I heard that the Synchrotech drives are painted blue.

If you want more hole shot go with the 13.5X16 Acme.

Garrett,

How do you like that engine. I would think it would be underpowered for a 23V, as I don't think it is powerful enough on our 21ft. Eclipse.

I think the engine is great with plenty of power. The top end speed is only about 42 MPH. I didn't buy the boat for speed, so I can't complain. I have started weighting it down recently (about a 1,000 lbs.)and it is fine with a few guys. It is little sluggish with all the wieght and 5+ people, but it still holds good at 22 MPH. I'am hoping a new Acme prop will help with the hole shot.

Hi all, if you want to load the boat down, and are willing to pull back on the throttle to prevent overreving the engine at top speed, under propping the boat will really help the hole shot and lower speed performance. I have had very good success running the OJ 14x16 4 blade on Tige 21 v drives with the 1.5 to 1 v drive. I'm sure it would work very well on the 23 also.

Don't do this if you run the boat without weight and want to pull bare foot skiers.

But if you like to load the boat and are looking for a major improvement in the lower speed segment this is a great way to go.

Hope this helps, Dale
