I put one in the Vride 2 yrs ago. I'll probably swap it out this fall for a new one, then throw the old one in the glovebox as a backup. We will ride late fall & early spring, and winterize after each day till the weather warms up for good. As a part of my winterizing process, I'll drain the block, exhaust, heater, & shower. Then start the boat on the trailer to blow out everything from the engine & mufflers. At that point everything is pretty dry so we won't have problems if there is a fluke freeze. Obviously it's not really "dry", it just doesn't have fresh water coming in too. If I do this a dozen times a year, for a few seconds each time, I can't have more than a minute or two of "dry" run time on the impeller after 2 years. I used to do the same process with the Johnson 812 too. I lost one when it was just about 2 yrs old. It melted on the Air Santa run on Christmas eve. Santa had to get a pull from someone else that year. (Message edited by bill_airjunky on August 28, 2009)
