Hey out there,

Can anybody that is driving one of these share their average fuel mileage? I am getting like 15-16 on average. I have the active fuel management.
Thanks

A friend of mine bought an 07 silverado with the 5.3 engine and with active fuel managment and he gets terrible mileage. For a while he was getting 12-13mpg with a 2wd brand new truck (after break in period). My 97 Z71 gets a solid 14-15 and it has 192,000 miles on it and a 5.7 liter!!! Whats the deal with that?

I have the 5.3L and got 403 miles out of a tank this past weekend. Granted it was all highway driving but it was about 17-18 mpg. 20 mpg is what they rate it at but that is not a reality.

I had a 6.0L with 4:10 gears and it got 13mpg at best.... 8-9 when towing.

While that's not great, you guys need to remember that trucks are built to work. If you want fuel mileage buy something else. The 1/2 ton trucks are gonna get the best mileage over the 3/4 ton's and up. V6 trucks don't get any better mileage either. I just bought an 08 Sierra 5.3L 1/2 ton with 3:73's and it gets about 15-16, but only has about 2,500 miles on it. Hopefully it'll get better after 3,000, but if it doesn't, at least I know it'll still tow my boat to the lake.
