I need to buy a drop hitch for my 08 TRD Tacoma. The trucks has about a 3" lift and tires 1.5" larger than stock. I bought a 3.25" but wonder if I should have got the 5.5"? If there a way to figure this out without the trailer? I pick-up the Super Air later in the week and wanted to get this all done. Do all boat trailers generally come with a 4-flat wire config?

Thanks,

I know the boatmate trailers use the flat 5 plug.

Not sure if it's similar but I've got a Tahoe and I need a 2" rise to tow. I've also got a Silverado with a 10" lift and the drop I need is only about 4".

The best way to figure things out is either:
1) Buy a rapid hitch with the 6" drop or rise. Kind of costly but this will cover you no matter what.
2) Take a trip to the dealer and measure where the trailer coupler sits with the trailer level. Measure from the ground to the middle of your receiver and subtract the measurement from the boat trailer and that is the amount of drop you will need.

Most trailers do come with the 5 flat plug so like Nick said, you will most likely need an adapter

Most trailers sit level at 18" from ground to tongue.

Thanks... I will go with 18" and see if I am close with the 3.25. This is a Prestige trailer. Anyone know what they use? I have the six plug round on my Tacoma so I just need a plug-in adapter.

Thanks.

How do you measure the 18"? I found a Prestige Trailer message board (yea, they have one) and their customer service guy responded twice to people by saying "the top of the hitch ball should be 23.5 inches for starters" Right now to the top of the ball I am just over 22inches with my current setup and thinking it is close enough.

That should be close enough to get you home, depending on how soft your suspension is.

Like Coop said it will be good enough to get you home. Sounds like your only off couple inches.
