ok, im not so smart when it comes to speakers
but i bought these tower speakers (dont knock me for it, they were cheap)

these are not the exact speakers, but exactly like the ones i bought

http://cgi.ebay.com/2-NEW-PYLE-PLMRW85-600w-WAKEBOARD-MARINE-AUDIO-SPEAKERS_W0QQitemZ170207387755QQihZ007QQcategoryZ3 292QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

they have 300 max watts each
should i get a 600 watt amp to give both 300 watts

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PYLE-MARINE-AUDIO-600w-2-CHANNEL-AMPLIFIER-BOAT-AMP_W0QQitemZ330224960804QQihZ014QQcategoryZ39732Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

or should i get something less powerful like a 400 watt amp and run 200 watts to each speaker

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PYLE-2-CHANNEL-MARINE-BOAT-AMPLIFIER-WHITE-AMP-2008_W0QQitemZ330224970175QQihZ014QQcategoryZ39732 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

how much of a sound difference will it make to each,
and which one will be more safe for the speakers

any input gladly welcome

thanks,
blake

Get a 2x150 amp such as the alpine PDX the rating they list is peak power not RMS.

would the 200 x 2 be ok though? or still too much power for the speakers

I don't know much about those amps but I'm betting the rating isn't true or at least not at a 4ohm load. I'd do some research on those and see if you can find the watts rating at RMS.

Pyle
Boss Audio
Lanzar

I'm no pro when it comes to car(marine) audio, but from what i've seen, usually peak(max) wattage is usually double the RMS rateing.

Depending on what you want to spend, there are alot of amp options. Just make sure the one you get allows you to grow your system as well as has a way to keep itself from over heating (ie...internal fans or heat sinks, etc...)

Blake, I didn't want to be the bearer of bad news because I realize your likely on a stricter budget than some of us but Sam and Steve are right PYLE is just that, a pile. I won't say that you won't be able to enjoy them but the fun won't last.

Blake- Buy the biggest and best amp you can afford. More speaker damage is usually caused by too little power. Besides, you can always turn the amp down and the crossover frequency up on the Piles and then have enough power to power something better when you outgrow the Piles.

Cheers
Scott
