I have a houseboat trip coming up, and we will likely have the boat stereo going alot, so it would be nice to be able to keep the batteries topped up.

Does anyone see a problem with using a houseboat generator to power an onboard charger to help recharge my stereo batteries?

The only possible problem I can see is the voltage fluctuation that alot of generators have... Will this harm my charger or batteries?

You should be just fine. Have fun on the trip.

That should be fine. What kind of charger are you planning on using and how loud do you plan to have the stereo cranking?

Houseboat generators are generally way big, and seem to make pretty clean power. We ran laptops and a LCD TV off of our 15KW Westerbeke all the time and never a problem.
