Who cares about water temp. Doesn't anybody from Tige know it doesn't stop raining in Portland until after the 4th of July?

Combining a popular wakeboarding event with a popular contest venue, the 2008 Tige Pro-Am Wakeboarding Championships will be held June 20-22 in Portland, Oregon.

The annual Tige event is a favorite among the world's top pro and amateur riders and wakeskaters. Last year’s Pro-Am was held in Cancun, Mexico, drawing more than 100 competitors and nearly 2,000 spectators.

"We’re excited to be holding the Pro-Am early in the season this year," said Kip Davis, Tige Director of Marketing, "and we’re really pumped to bring it to Portland. This is a great community with huge wakeboarding support and has always been one of the most popular locations for a contest."

Another event at Blue Lake? With all the options in the Portland and Seattle areas event planners continue to pic that crappy little lake. I just don't get it.

That is the only place they can control the traffic and have plenty of viewing place from shore. On the river they #1 have to control all the traffic going by and have no shore that is great for viewing where there will be calm water for the contest. All sorts of great spots, but only viewable by people that have boats...
Brady is probably correct....

Blue lake is a great venue, water conditions are good, grass and shade areas and the riders always like coming to Portland, always one of the best spectator draws of all the tour stops. The bright side to having the Tige Pro-Am in Portland is it will allow local rippers that don't ride the tour a chance to ride with the big boys. It's in between tour stops 4 & 5 (both on the west coast) so most of the top riders will be there to put on a good show for everyone.

Randy, do you know why they dropped Portland from the PWT?
