Here's an old shot of Parks from 2004. Can't find the high res version so you'll have to deal with this.

who was it that had the record height as recorded by the number of frames in the vid? was it Sharpe? or was it Gonzales? I'm pretty sure that Murray is a close second though for that record

Anybody have the pic of Sharpe's tail glide? I know he had the most frames and it was from the first year of the Double up or Nothing contest. That glide redefined what I thought was possible on a board.

If you look in this months wakeboarding mag (pg.76) there's a nice sequence shot of Ricky G D-up @ the spring ride.

It was cool that CIE Spring Ride got that write up, seems like they would have given it a little more coverage though. That was a great sequence shot of Ricky.

You have to start somewhere and remember this is still a fairly young event. Two pages is a great place to start IMO.

I think that photo was at Parks Double or nothing one year and it was the biggest air or most frames or whatever...I don't know if it is still the biggest but that would be hard to beat. I think Chad has bionic knees.

As far as I know it hasn't been beaten. I know Parks had a batwing the next year that was 2 or 3 frames less and Murray's raley last year was pretty close too. Sharpe is the man.

The shot of Chad Sharpe still stands as the biggest documented air ever. It was at Parks Double of Nothing possibly 2004. I believe it was 54 frames.

I am sure Qucksilver still has some of those Retro Shorts that Tony Carroll, Derek Grasman and Trevor Hansen were sporting at spring ride last year. Maybe if you get a pair you to can get that much air due to less drag.

The peak of that d-up in the Colin Ryan Photos is insane. That roller looks between 4 and 5 feet. I think I would crap a brick edging into that.

"I think I would crap a brick edging into that." Anyone see Futurama where Bender craps a brick? A fine example of understated humor.

you can seriously tell the difference between a well framed shot and just a sick huge double up by checking the angle of the line from the rider back to the boat... the one of parks from '04 is a perfect illustration... HUGE

I'm not implying that he didn't go big, I posted it because I was implying that it may be the biggest anyone has gone off a plain wake, now that Nick brought it up I notice it is a double up, it seems like its the smallest double up on here, not the least amount of air. sorry for the unclearity of the initial post. I can tell it was an open double up instead of a closed double up by looking at the wake. and I can tell this epic one here: was a closed double up. all I'm sayin'...

I don't know if there's a picture of it but Gator did a Hoochie Krypt at the LA Open back in the late 90's that was gigantic! I know it's in the video Switch & the people who were at that event said it was the biggest DU that they had ever seen.

Ryan Is that the one he blew his knee out on! I remember that pic from way back! Trevor, That is like a "kinker dub" almost a triple and no it wasnt closed off, it was square. Colin is a dub machine.

Gator's front to fakie in Mayday where he blew his knee has to be one of the biggest I've seen. His booted HS 5 on the same video wasn't too bad either.

Andy, I don't think so because he rode away from it. I just remember seeing two angles of the DU and thinking OMG! My brother was also at the event and he said even from shore, it was massive. Eubanks, I completely agree with you. Gator hit's some of the biggest DU's in Mayday. I also have video of him hitting a massive front to fakie at the 1998 Nationals.

here's a different one I'd posted awhile back--it's from wbm, photos are by tom king. It's rob reid going bananas. I didn't crop any of the photos, so what you see is what you would have gotten in the mag. I had just cropped the black borders from the layout.

no ryan, I think you are MY hero! For real, that's a board I would like in my collection some day. I'm a bit of a gregg necrason fan. Yeah, it's hard to read that text (the scan is of a low quality) but I think this is it: "if you're wondering who Rob Reid is, let's just say he's a guy searching for a good orthopedic surgeon. 'He had to be 20 in the air. It's the biggest thing I've ever seen anyone do on a wakeboard.' Those words are from a guy who's seen a lot of people ride, Tom King. To get an idea of how big this move actually is, try to think of the last time you saw a shot from the boat with no water or trees in the background." In a different thread, someone said that rob was later measured at 30 feet. I'm not sure where that ultimately came from but he's a gnar dog none the less. Glad you guys are stoked on it!

Esnow, there was another picture from around the same time, with Ricky Gonzalez riding the blue/yellow fade LF squirt, that is ridiculously large as well. I loved that board, and the super squirt as well. Don't know if I have ridden a board to date that popped as well.

ahahahah I am so stoked to be seeing that sequence. Rob now owns a wakeboarding school up in the hamptons called Global Boarding. I have been working there for the last two years and I can say first hand that he still goes just as big. His only problem now is no one can drive a triple up that is big enough for him. He still rips its insane. Electric snow, earlier this year rob was showing me magazine shots from back in the day and there was another shot somewhere of him doing an oriental off a triple up, you wouldnt happen to have that laying around would you?
