Here's my stats...210lbs, 5'8", intermediate I'm looking at maybe getting the Shane 140, Premier 141 or 3DS 143. Last summer, I was riding a LF Balance 140 and felt that it was a little too small for me especially with the funny tips on them. I did really feel comfortable on this board though, just felt like the land gear was a tad to small for my size... I was also riding the previous model Byerly 142. That didn't seem to go so well for me. I just couldn't get a good feel for the pop. I pretty much felt awkward riding it. I had the original Premier 140 and have since regretted ridding myself of it. What should I get...and why? (Message edited by lives2wake on February 01, 2007) (Message edited by lives2wake on February 01, 2007)

depends on what type of rider you are... I rode last years premier and i loved it i'm a wake to wake rider that can do basic spins and inverts and the board was perfect for me, one of my buddies rode the 3ds and was a wake to flats raley type of rider that threw everything ot to the flats... also i would say if you get a hyperlite go with last years models because there gonna save you a lot of cash and they are the same board just diff graphics...

Get the shane. It is extra wide so it will be more like riding a 142 -143. Its really fast even with a 3 stage rocker. It has cupped side fins and if you find that the board rides too lose you can take the cupped fins off of your balance and put them on the shane. I am going to get an 07 shane soon. I have ridden my friends though and its really sick. Huge pop!

I was even thinking of getting the longer Balance...I don't know. I'm not really a wake to wake rider. I like to charge and go as big as I can.

You can def. go into the flats with the shane or 3ds just not the premier.look at the board reviews for the shane. Speed and pop!! I have never had that in a board before thats why im looking forward to getting the shane. look at the reviews. It should help you get some feedback. http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard7.asp?ProductID=3131

http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/GetReview.asp?ProductID=3054 here are the reviews for the premier. I have no clue why people are giving it 5s on speed when it is a very slow board.

If you liked that old premier, you'll most likely love the newer premiers... real all around good board. I have a friend that rides one of the newer premier 141's and he is about your size, possiby a few pounds heavier and hes obsessed with it...

"If you liked that old premier, you'll most likely love the newer premiers" I don't know many people tht feel that way. I admit I haven't ridden one, but I'm told they are a lot slower. Being that you're a bigger guy, I would select a board that rides faster. Your weight will make any board ride a little deeper. A slow, 3-stage rocker board will probably have a lot of drag for you. I would stick with faster boards. I transitioned from the original Premier (Era) to a 2003 Absolute. A lot of guys referred to the board back then as the "Premier on steroids" The Absolute did everything a little better without feeling too different. You can find that same shape on a 2004 Absolute, a 2005 Flame, a 2006 Flame and Pure, and the 2007 Kink and Pure. You might also try the new Transcend which I believe is the best board ever. You might also try to demo the CWB Faction 144. Also if you like molded fin boards, I would stick with them.

Justin I rode the old premier. I think it was the 03. I rode a couple of different boards in 05 and didn't really like them. I bought the 06 CWB absolute platinum and really like it. It does everything that the old premier did only much better. More pop. faster, and softer landings. I'd recommend that one

You might want to take a look at the 145 state on wakeworld reviews.

I was thinking of the era too, but lately I've been thinking mostly about the Shane. I've never considered a CWB..I'll check them out.

Yep. The Shane is a drastic change from what you said you liked. Just demo before you buy!

Well, unfortunately, I can't demo boards. I don't want to buy new either so, I'll buy off of Ebay. What boards would you recommend if I liked the old premier 140 and the lf balance 140? J-Rod, what is so different about the Shane? I'm just trying to get the best board possible for me - I guess I just have to guess which I will like?
