Anyone been board on Lake Lake McConaughy? If so, how's the water? Can butter be found?

Thinking about a late spring or summer trip and want to know if its worth the drive from Denver.

I went a couple of times a few years ago when I lived in Denver. Its a big round lake that gets chopped up pretty bad. We would get early morning butter, and maybe a session in the evening with decent water...but once the jetskis and runabouts get going mid morning, you better drop anchor and enjoy the sun.

On the plus side, you can camp right on the beach, which is very nice and large with smooth sand.
