Who was the kid that split his head open good on a piece of wood floating on the surface or just below the surface at the Delta? I remember the pic of all the staples. Can't tell me a helmet wouldn't of kept his head from being split open. I've taken many headslaps that would always ring my bell good without a helmet but with one, nothing. Make sure the helmet fits properly. Fit is very important to how well it will work. Bottom line is no safety equipment is 100%. Seat belts, roll bars, cages, parachutes, nothing. It's all a game of odds and bottom line is your odds are much, much better when using all the safety gear available to you. Happy riding.
