I found a man who owns a 1989 ski nautique. I asked him if it had the 2001 hull, and he was clueless about what I was talking about. I assume that it does, but after doing a little research, I am not sure. It appears just from NADA.com that Nautique made multiple models, including a barefoot model. The boat does not have 2001 stickers or anything, in fact he commented that that boat has been painted, because the title says it is red, when in fact it is blue. The title does not list it as a '2001 model' but neither does NADA. <BR> <BR>How would a person know which hull this has? I assume it would be a great fixer upper. I read another thread about the hull spray pockets, but is there anything else? Maybe a finder's fee might be in order if I point someone in the right direction to buy it?

barefoot has chines 2001 does not. 2001 is in the serial number on the back.

Barefoot Nautiques have a chines as mentioned and a steeper appearance. <BR> <BR>If it is an 89 it is a "2001". <BR> <BR>And regardless of whether or not is is a Ski Nautique or a Barefoot Nautique it is going to make for a good wakeboarding platform.

If it has the serial numbers on the hull you should be able to email Correct Craft and they should be able to tell you which model it is and give you all the information on the boat when it was new.

The barefoot had a 454, the 2001 didnt.

It possibly may be a martinique. (Same hull as a barefoot with a PCM 351)

PCM stands for Pleasure Craft, right? It does have the Pleasure Craft that is advertised at 240hp. Which block it actually has, I do not know. I have heard of PCM engines for years now, never took a second thought of what it stands for.

two very different boats. Martinique is open bow 21' range. 2001 is 19' closed. Have you see the boat yet? snap a pic.

PCM-Pleasure Craft Marine <BR> <BR>The 240hp was the standard v8 on most of the pre-1990 boats. Suprisingly, that 240hp with the right prop can pull up a lot of ballast. There are a bunch of people with 2001s pulling 2k in ballast without any problems.

How in the heck do you keep from sinking a 2001 with that much weight?

someone should post the pic of the gray/black 2001 that was completely restored and has about 3k in ballast in it. Great picture. The PCM 351 is an awesome motor. I have had it in 2 boats and never had a problem other than the carburetor. I had 1500 in ballast and 5 guys in my 2001 with a 4 blade acme and it didn't even flinch.

Those 2001's are pretty rare around here. I have seen one in 7 years. <BR> <BR>I finally got around to looking at the boat. I do not think it is the 2001 hull unless I misunderstood the information above. The hull does not have cutouts in the rear. <BR> <BR>Overall the condition is reasonable for a boat that old. My guess is that it's a CC mimmic.

I spoke to the gentleman last night. He took out a loan for the purchase, so the title was not immediately available for him to look at. He bought it from a private party about a year ago. He seemed hurt by the revelation that the boat is not a ski Nautique. By the tone of his conversation, I am very convinced he was unaware of this. <BR> <BR>So I guess this is a lesson to all to be careful when buying a used boat, it might not be what you think it is!

The gentleman now sent me an email upset that I gave his hull ID and phone number on the internet. He was concerned about someone getting access to his personal information for identity fraud purposes. <BR> <BR>Am I out of line for doing that? <BR> <BR>For the record, I could not find him in the phone book, but his boat was advertised in the local want ads, which are also available online. I have never heard of anyone being able to access personal information from a hull serial number. Revising my guess a little but. I just noticed that it has a closed bow. Thats not whaw I remember the few closed bow Martiniques that CC made looking like. And only Supreme and Centurion messed with that "french cut" look of the dash. It is not a Correct Craft. But it is a tournament inboard of some kind. Perhaps a decent one too. <BR> <BR>My guess is that is it a Supreme. I don't know if they had a larger boat than the Ski Supreme (Sierra Supreme?). <BR> <BR>Again - pics of the entire boat and not just a corner will answer these identity questions pretty quickly. There are 3 80's-early 90's era Supremes on my lake and they are very easy to identify.

Thanks for the additional pics. <BR> <BR>Yup. Looks like a Ski Supreme. <BR> <BR>If you are planning on buying a boat for wakeboarding purposes, there are better options out there. This would make an avid slalom skiier or barefooter quite happy though. It would take a lot of work and refactoring to turn this into a wakeboarding platform that you'd be happy with, long-term. Just my opinion.
